Our Pediatricians

Dr. Cynthia Bui, M.D., FAAP is a board-certified pediatrician and fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Bui has been practicing in Irvine since 2016. She grew up in Irvine just minutes away from Sunshine Pediatrics OC and was inspired by the compassionate care of her own pediatrician. She now strives to bring that same caring, thorough, family-centered and science-based approach to the families she cares for.

Accepted into both college and medical school directly from Woodbridge High School through Brown University’s prestigious PLME program, Dr. Bui earned her B.S. in Human Biology and English from Brown and went on to complete her medical degree at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. During her years in Providence, she contributed to research in newborn brain development and pediatric sports medicine and traveled to Vietnam on a medical mission, where she provided primary care to underserved communities and led research on child environmental health.

After spending eight years on the east coast, Dr. Bui’s heart was always in southern California where sunshine and family awaited, and she happily returned home to complete her pediatrics residency at the University of Irvine, California-Children’s Hospital of Orange County (UCI-CHOC) where her passion for evidence-based medicine flourished. Since then, she has remained actively involved in patient education and clinical committees focused on advancing high-quality pediatric care, and she has been recognized by colleagues as a Clinician of Excellence.

Dr. Bui feels grateful to care for the community that shaped her and loves watching her patients and their families grow over the years. Working alongside her partners at Sunshine Pediatrics OC is truly her childhood dream realized.

Outside of work, she enjoys running, cheering on the Lakers and Cowboys (regardless of their records), and adventuring with her sweet golden retriever, Kobe, and goofy goldendoodle, Winston.
